Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Linking up with Ashley for her weekly Scavenger Hunt.  I really did not think I was going to participate this week as I didn't really have time to take many pictures, until Saturday, more about that later,  and even after I came home I was pretty sure I wasn't going to participate.  However, after looking at all pictures I took and pulling a few from my archives, I was able to gather pictures to participate.

1.  ROUTINE

It has become a routine of mine to spend some time every night knitting.  I learned to knit when I was a senior in high school.  After the class was over I never picked up another needle until a few years ago when my daughter expressed interest in learning to crochet.  I picked up knitting needles and taught her to knit instead!

2.  MUSIC

Alright, this may be a stretch for music...a chorus of geese and swans.
On Saturday my photo buds, Shay and Cole, joined me at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area.  Middle Creek is known for the large number of snow geese and tundra swans that stop over for a break during their migration north.  I had never been to Middle Creek and had no idea what to expect other than there would be thousands of water fowl.  I picked Shay and Cole up at 4:30am to make the hour trip to Middle Creek.  (We were told the best time to see the birds was the first hour after first light and the last hour before the last light of the day.)  What we were not expecting was the very thick dense fog.  After a very interesting drive in the fog we arrived at Middle Creek.  When we opened the car doors we were greeted by a very large and loud chorus of geese and swans.  We had no idea how many birds were there as it was still very dark and foggy.  The fog didn't lift until long after the birds left the lake so we were not able to capture many shots.  It was an amazing experience and will definitely something I do again!

3.  TECHNOLOGY

In our house Apple has the market on most of our technology toys!  The iPhone is mine and iPad belongs to one of my children!  This picture came from my archives and I have to admit I was going to use this a few weeks ago for trending...!

4.  SHOW ME YOUR STYLE

While we were waiting for the Geese and Swans to take flight, I turned around and saw this group of Amish teenagers, I thought of this prompt.

5.  MISMATCH

Again I might be stretching this a little bit but...
I love how the gates are mismatched causing them to not line up.

Thanks for stopping by this week as always I'd love to read your comments.  Have a great week!

Focusing on Him,
~W~

  3. I think you did a lovely job with this week's prompts and don't believe you stretched anything at all. I can imagine the music of noise in the birds taking flight and see the mismatch not only of the gate, but the flicker of beautiful color of the arch design.

  7. what a great series! Love the style shot and mismatch is great too! The mismatch one wouldn't be as strong an image in the spring/summer because the leaves would cover that great bridge/wall. Love that image!

  13. Great photos! I really love your interpretation of music. I can almost hear the birds in your image. The Mismatched gates totally remind me of the ranch I grew up on.... lots of mismatching going on there!

  15. Beautiful photos, all of them...although, the Amish teens look like they weren't too pleased with being photographed (you're not actually meant to take pix of them, are you...insulting to their faith, and all that..?)

That 'music' photo is stunning, as is your 'mismatch'!!

  20. I have such a strong desire to learn how to knit. I tried to teach myself but couldn't figure out how to use both hands with the needles. I ended up learning to crochet - but I still dream of learning to knit and creating beautiful scarves, socks, sweaters...I am glad you taught your daughter.

  22. wow! you did fantastic interpretations of these! that geese shot is amazing! and so is that one with the hat-wearing people bent over the table!

i wish knitting was routine for me. it's not even sporadic, as i have never learned. but what is routine is my constant telling myself that i want to learn to knit and my constant lack of just starting already instead of just talking about it. =)
